Type locality: Barnstable Harbour, Massachusetts, U.S.A.; (Blum 1960: 298) Holotype: Blum 1085; 5.ix.1959; NY; (Christensen 1987: 30) Notes: Christensen (Br. phyc. J. 21: 279) holotype at MICH lost; a few filaments on mica sent to NY "in place of holotype".
