An Appeal

AlgaeBase is currently entirely free on the internet, largely because it was funded in 1996-2010 by the Irish Government, the National University of Ireland, Galway and the European Community.

This funding has now largely ceased. If AlgaeBase is to continue to provide taxonomic database services to the phycological community worldwide, we must, unfortunately, solicit donations from this community or the site will have to start charging for access at the end of this year.
