Description: Many small spherical cells (8-10 µm) living together in slime flocks of about 1 to 2 mm size. Each cell has one chloroplast, a pyrenoid and assimilation bodies. Reproduction by binary fission of non-motile cells, also by small spherical cells with stigma and 2 apical, heterodynamic flagella. Spherical cysts are related tentatively to this species. Marine, gelatinous colonies attached to several red algae, described from the Adriatic Sea, Mediterranean.
