Description: Lanceolate, simple or divided, with a terete stipe and discoid holdfast. Midrib distinct, percurrent, with pinnate branches, simple or forked, extending into blade. Medulla filamentous. Cortex of isodiametric cells, progressively smaller toward cuticle. Reproductive structures occurring in papillae on surface of blade. A single 3-celled carpogonial branch borne on each supporting cell together with one or two subsidiary cells. Fusion cell involving supporting cell and subsidiary cells only, producing nonseptate connecting filaments that contact separate auxiliary cells, also bearing subsidiary cells. Groups of carposporangia separated by sterile filaments. Spermatangia undescribed. Tetrasporophyte isomorphic. Tetrasporangia zonate, scattered in cortex.
