Notes:
The present state of Cystoseira communities and the impact of increased
eutrophication in the 1980s on their diversity and distribution in the Burgas
Bay were investigated. The detected increase in nutrient loads was parallelled
by a gradual change in community structure and loss of biodiversity. The
current species diversity was similar to that in the pre-eutrophication period in
the early 1980s, but with a significant decrease in the depth of occurrence of
the studied communities.
