Original publication and holotype designation: Weber-van Bosse, A. (1929). Sur un nouveau genre de Floridés. Annales de Cryptogamie Exotique 2: 255-261, 8 figs.

Description: Thallus blade-like, prostrate, attached by clusters of rhizoids forming multicellular holdfasts on the ventral surface. Structure dorsiventral, formed by laterally coherent polysiphonous axes, these initially with 4 pericentral cells, of which the dorsal 2 divide once longitudinally, then twice transversely to form 8 small pericentrals from each original cell. Trichoblasts absent on vegetative thallus, present on male and female reproductive structures. Reproductive organs borne on small erect terete cylindrical fertile branchlets occurring singly or in sori on the dorsal surface. Spermatangial branches placentiform, with central sterile cells and a short stalk. Procarps distal on fertile branchlets. Cystocarps spherical to ovoid. Tetrasporangia 1 per segment, spirally arranged in the branchlet.
