Description: Thalli monopodial, flat, ecostate blades, alternate-pinnately branched in one plane to the second order, sometimes tripinnate; blades up to approximately 10 cm long and 10-12 mm broad. Each branch constricted proximally to a short stipitate connection with the bearing blade; distal ends of branches broadly rounded. Apical cell projecting or sunken in an apical notch; small trichoblasts surround apical cell. Axis corticated, polysiphonous; not clearly visible in older regions. Reproductive structures borne on special cylindrical branchlets produced on the branch surface. Tetrasporangial branchlets (stichidia) in cylindrical, up to 6 mm long, 0.5 mm diameter. Cystocarps on short stalks, approximately 1/2 mm broad, spheroidal to ovoidal and with a slightly protuberant ostiole. Males unknown.
