Type designated in: Kylin, H. (1956). Die Gattungen der Rhodophyceen. pp. i-xv, 1-673, 458 figs. Lund: C.W.K. Gleerups.

Description: Foliose, thin and membranous, obovate-ligulate to linear-lanceolate, proliferous from margin, attached by a short stipe. Medulla of loosely interwoven filaments. Cortex of spherical to elliptical cells, progressively smaller toward cuticle. Carposporangia small, numerous. Cystocarps immersed in the thallus, the surrounding cortex projecting. Spermatangia and tetrasporangia unknown.

Taxonomic status: This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cryptonemia.

Comments: Endemic to southeastern Australia. This genus may fall within Cryptonemia.
