Description: Erect thalli, up to 14 cm tall, proximal branches ca. 1 mm broad; polysiphonous, cylindrical with many branches; monopodial, most segments exogenously producing determinate or indeterminate polysiphonous branches in a spiral series; determinate branchlets spine-like. (4)-5 pericentral cells, each dividing transversely with subsequent anticlinal and periclinal divisions; upper cell retains connectection with axial cell; mature cortex of large and small pseudoparenchymatous cells. Vegetative trichoblasts absent. Reproductive structures mostly on determinate laterals. Tetrasporangia 1 per segment, in a straight series of 4-6, sometimes in axis of indeterminate lateral but mostly in determinate laterals. Procarps on short determinate laterals at base of reduced unbranched trichoblasts; cystocarps urceolate with flared ostiole. Male reproductive structure unknown.
