Description: Cells solitary, pear-shaped, surrounded by a stratified wall with a polar thickening. One bilobed chloroplast without pyrenoid. Storage products oil droplets and chrysolaminaran. Vegetative reproduction by 4-8(-16) autospores or swarmers.Autospores almost globular; swarmers with heterokont flagella, the smooth one very short, contractile vacuole no stigma. Sexual reproduction and stomatocysts unknown. In periphyton or among other algae, found in turf pits in Czechoslovakia.
