Jaoniella Skvortsov, 1961

Holotype species: Jaoniella planctonica Skvortsov

Original publication and holotype designation: Skvortsov, B.V. (1961). Harbin Chrysophyta, China Boreali-Orientalis. Bulletin of the Herbarium of North-Eastern Forestry Academy (Harbin) 3: 1-70.

Description: Cells on branched stalks, arranged in spherical colonies. Each cell has 2 equal(?) flagella, one parietal chloroplast, and a stigma shown not to be associated with the plastid. Details of reproduction unknown. Stomatocysts spherical, with a short collar. The description of this genus is inadequate to fix its taxonomic position, but it might be closely related to (or identical with) Tessellaria.
