Ollicola Vørs, 1992

Holotype species: Ollicola vangoorii (W.Conrad) Vørs

Original publication and holotype designation: Vørs, N. (1992). Heterotrophic amoebae, flagellates, and heliozoa from the Tvärminne area, Gulf of Finland, in 1988-1990. Ophelia 36(1): 1-109, 46 figures, 2 tables.

Description: Biflagellate monads, surrounded by a fibrillar, brownish lorica. Chloroplast demonstrated in one species. Stomatocysts have been observed. Reproduction not known. Several species, including the type species of the former genus Calycomonas, have been transferred to the rhizopod genus Paulinella. There is conflicting evidence whether this genus contains a chloroplast or not. If it does, it cannot be distinguished from Pseudokephyrion. Marine, widely distributed in temperate and arctic seas.

Contributors
Some of the descriptions included in AlgaeBase were originally from the unpublished Encyclopedia of Algal Genera, organised in the 1990s by Dr Bruce Parker on behalf of the Phycological Society of America (PSA) and intended to be published in CD format. These AlgaeBase descriptions are now being continually updated, and each current contributor is identified above. The PSA and AlgaeBase warmly acknowledge the generosity of all past and present contributors and particularly the work of Dr Parker.

Descriptions of chrysophyte genera were subsequently published in J. Kristiansen & H.R. Preisig (eds.). 2001. Encyclopedia of Chrysophyte Genera. Bibliotheca Phycologica 110: 1-260.
