Description: Cells very small (2-3 &m), with an organic theca, one chloroplast, but no stigma and no pyrenoid. Single flagellum with bipartite flagellar hairs emanating from a flagellar groove ventrally on the cell. No trace of a second basal body.Peculiar ejectile organelle near the ventral cell surface. Reproduction and resting stages unknown. Found in picoplankton of the northern Pacific Ocean.
