Holotype species: Woronichiniella pentagona Skvortsov

Original publication and holotype designation: Skvortsov, B.V. (1961). Harbin Chrysophyta, China Boreali-Orientalis. Bulletin of the Herbarium of North-Eastern Forestry Academy (Harbin) 3: 1-70.

Description: Loricate monads with one visible flagellum and onechloroplast. Lorica is flattened and of pentagonal outline. Reproduction and cysts unknown. Rare: only reported from China.
