Description: Cells solitary, always orbicular in transverse section (omniradiate), cylindrical, without median constriction. Cell apex truncate; semi-cells subquadrate to subrectangular; surface with or without longitudinal grooves. Cell wall with circular rows of pores apically and subapically.

Semicells subquadrate in front view; in vertical view circular, basal part of semicells with regular marginal undulations. Chloroplasts stellate. Cell wall with circular rows of pores at the apex and subapically.
