Request PDFDescription: Valves shallow and circular, 20-50 µm in diameter with areolae that contain rotae. About four to eight areolae per 10 µm. Valve structure costate. Valve face flat with a narrow, hyaline, axial area. Areolae arranged in concentric arcs about loci of smaller areolae that lie at each pole of the axial area. Symmetry bilateral about the axial area and about the midline perpendicular to the axial area. Two to nine rimoportulae with short stalks and simple external openings are located near the mantle but never within the polar clusters of small areolae. Each rimoportula bears two pairs of labia, the inner pair smaller than the outer.
