Description: Medium-sized, spheroidal cell with a very abruptly differentiated low cylindrical apical horn with truncate apex. Girdle with hyaline lists, descending, not impressed. Original description brief, without figure. Taylor (1976) described a second species. Chloroplasts absent apparently. Sexual reproduction and cyst formation not known. Marine plankton, reported from tropical eastern Pacific and Indian Ocean.
