Description: Plants consisting of uniseriate filaments, secondary branches arising at acute angles and remaining short or developing into long filaments lying almost parallel to one another. Cells of adjacent filaments often anastomosing. Cells initially cylindrical, later becoming more irregular in outline, polygonal and somewhat flattened where branches arise. Cells thick-walled, with plate-like chloroplast with lobed margins and 2-4 pyrenoids. Most cells bear a long, bristle-like hair, its thick wall with wavy outline in wider basal part. Methods of sexual and asexual reproduction unknown. Kymatotrichon epiphytic on superficial cells of Ceramium plants growing intertidally in northern part of Adriatic Sea. The taxonomic position of this little known genus remains uncertain.
