Description: Plants forming small cushion-like colonies of prostrate, uniseriate filaments. With age filaments give rise to sarcinoid packets of cells. Cells uninucleate with parietal chloroplast and pyrenoid, often bearing a very slender hair. Asexual reproduction by means of zoospores, these biflagellate, 4 or 8 produced in each swollen zoosporangium. Sexual reproduction unknown. Micropoa epiphytic on the floating aquatic Lemna minor. Known only from Europe. Description based on observation of the alga grown in culture.
