Myxonemopsis C.Meyer, 1930

Description: Plants forming bushy tufts of much branched, uniseriate, filaments, attached by well-developed rhizoids. Main axis of thick-walled, barrel-shaped cells with parietal, reticulate chloroplast and several pyrenoids. Secondary branches arise regularly and almost opposite to each other, each cell contains a parietal chloroplast and 2-4 pyrenoids. Tertiary branches often appear tufted as usually arise close together from distal end of cells of secondary axis. Cells of tertiary branches globose, contain a short parietal chloroplast and 2-4 pyrenoids. Terminal cells cylindrical and bear long, multicellular hairs. Cells uninucleate. Zoosporangia and sexuality unknown. Myxonemopsis known only from Lake Baikal where it is epilithic at 2 m depth. Possesses some characters of both Ireksokonia and Draparnaldia.
