Description: Plants composed of simple, unbranched, iniseriate filaments, not attached and without basal-distal differentiation. Filaments made up of cylindrical, firmly adjoined, uninucleate cells with one prominent, parietal chloroplast. Both cell ends in single filament of equal shape, rounded or tapered. Chloroplast having the form of a bilobed homogeneous plate with marked median constriction, in which a small nucleus is positioned. Chloroplast folding around half of cell circumference, and usually approaching both transverse cell walls. Pyrenoids absent. Asexual reproduction by biflagellate zoospores (with details uncertain since this was seen only once in one filament in fresh material from the type locality. Vegetative multiplication by fragmentation of filaments, not common.
