Description: Thallus cartilaginous, with a stoloniferous holdfast bearing flattened erect axes that are simple or distichously branched, irregular to pinnate, opposite to subopposite, up to 3 orders. Branches lanceolate to ligulate, basally constricted, with prominent or emarginate apices; flattened upright branches sometimes anastomosing to one another and to the stolon; stolon terete and often longer than the upright axes that develop at irregular intervals along its length; nodes common on stolon resulting from regrowth after injury; prostrate branches from the stolon producing brush-type attachment haptera. Reproduction unknown.
