Original publication: Kalina, T. (1996). Glaphyrella, a new generic name, proposed for Chlorella saccharophila group (Chlorophyceae). European Journal of Phycology 31(Suppl.): 35 [abstract 246].

Description: A short English description is given in published poster abstract (Kalina 1996) but no Latin diagnosis is given and type species is not cited. Kalina includes three species in this genus (Chlorella ellipsoidea, Ch. saccharophila, Ch. trebouxioides).
