Original publication and holotype designation:Lobban, C.S. & Navarro, J.N. (2012). Mastogloiopsis biseriata, gen. et sp. nov., a diatom without partecta, is very similar to the Marginulatae group of Mastogloia. Nova Hedwigia 94: 251-263.
Taxonomic status: currently recognized as a distinct genus.
