A revised classification of the Gelidiellaceae (Rhodophyta) with descriptions of three new genera: Huismaniella, Millerella and Perronella. Taxon 65(5): 965-979, 6 figs.

Description: Plants growing as a turf, attached by clumps of unicellular rhizoids arising from prostrate axes. Erect axes terete, tapering to the apices, with short, irregularly pinnate lateral branches. Apical cells single, dome-shaped. Subapical cells decussately divided. Cortex consisting of pigmented, angular cells in surface view. Medulla with hyaline, irregularly shaped cells. Spermatangia in sori, covering most of the surface near the apices. Tetrasporangial branchlets inserted at right angles to erect axes, basally constricted; tetrasporangia initiated from inner cortical cells, pit-connected laterally and adaxially to the bearing cell, arising acropetally in irregular whorls, irregularly arranged, tetrahedrally divided. Female reproductive structures not observed.
