Description: Thallus filamentous, erect, with a limited or extensive prostrate system, ecorticate or with basal cortication, uniseriate, with 1 lateral branch per axial cell produced in a spiral or alternate-distichous pattern. Cells uninucleate. Spermatangia in clusters, consisting of 1–3- celled fertile axes, adaxial on lateral branchlets. Procarps on unmodified intercalary cells of indeterminate axes, with a supporting cell bearing a 4-celled carpogonial branch. Auxiliary cell(s) arising from the supporting cell and a second fertile pericentral cell borne on the fertile axial cell, following diploidisation forming gonimolobes projecting to each side of the axis, each with a ±triangular profile. Involucral filaments absent. Tetrasporangia solitary and sessile on the adaxial surface of the bearing cell, tetrahedrally divided.
