Description: Thallus erect, cylindrical, branched, epiphytic on Fucus, attached to substratum with a small discoid holdfast. Medulla consists of a syntagma of a few longitudinal filaments with meristematic apical cell each. Cortex a dense layer of few-celled assimilatory filaments (paraphyses), all of the same length. Unilocular sporangia ovoid to pyriform, borne at base of paraphyses. Plurilocular sporangia not known. Phaeophycean hairs present.
