Description: Frustules in girdle view without septa or intercalary bands. Valve straight or slightly curved. Dorsal margin convex and ventral margin straight or slightly concave, dorsal and ventral margins sinuate-dentate. Axial area located near ventral margin. Striae fine, indistinctly punctate.

Comments: This rarely recorded genus has been collected from a variety of freshwater habitats in North America and Europe. Many authorities include Amphicampa within the raphid genus Eunotia. Light and electron microscopical studies of the type material are necessary to establish the validity of this genus
