Original publication and holotype designation: Woelkerling, W.J. & Ducker, S.C. (1987). Lesueuria minderiana gen. et sp. nov. (Corallinaceae, Rhodophyta) from southern and western Australia. Phycologia 26: 192-204, 24 figs, 1 table.

Description: Thalli comprising endophytic vegetative filaments and emergent conceptacles. Vegetative filaments partially unconsolidated and lacking epithallial cells. Cells in contiguous filaments sometimes joined by fusions; secondary pit-connections lacking. Trichocytes unknown. Reproductive cells forming within uniporate conceptacles. Conceptacle roofs produced by overarching peripheral filaments ending in epithallial cells with rounded outer walls. Columella present; tetrasporangia in surrounding ring. Bisporangia lacking. Apical sporangial plugs absent. Separate gametangial conceptacles containing carpogonia and simple spermatangia on chamber floor.

Comments: Reported only on the coralline Metagoniolithon chara from western and southern Australia as deep as 8 m. Lesueuria stands apart from other genera in the Mastophoroideae because of its endophytic habit, diffuse organization of filaments, and haustoria.
