Description: Plant epiphytic, solitary or confluent, attached on the host by slightly penetrating into the host tissue, hemispherical or globular, gelatinous, up to 10 mm in diameter, yellowish brown or mediate brown, haplostichous, composed of prostrate basal cell layer, medullary layer and cortical layer. Medullary layer consisting of radially arranged di- trichotomously branched, filaments of large colorless elongated cells. Cortical layer consisting of long, slightly moniliform assimilatory filaments. Each cell contains many chloroplasts with pyrenoids. Phaeophycean hairs present, formed on the basal cells of the assimilatory filament. Unilocular sporangia borne laterally at the base of assimilatory filament, ovoid or irregular in shape. Plurilocular sporangia formed on upper cortical cells or at the base of assimilatory filament, uniseriate or biseriate. Mostly summer annual.
