Chloroplasts parietal with one or more pyrenoids lacking a starch sheath. Asexual reproduction by fragmentation of packets or by bipartitions to form vegetative cells or zoospores. Zoospores rounding up on quiescence, with two flagella of equal length. Emended by S. Watanabe 2006 (Watanabe et al., 2006: 690). Emended by Ling (2001: 174).
