Original publication and holotype designation: Ercegovic, A. (1955). Contribution a la connaissance des Éctocarpes (Ectocarpus) del'Adriatique moyenne. Acta Adriatica 7: 1-74.

Description: Thallus to 15 mm high, scarcely and irregularly branched, epiphytic on Cystoseira. Unpigmented medulla multiaxial, medullary filaments branching monopodially, with meristematic region among the youngest (uppermost) laterals. Internal rhizoidal filaments present. Narrow subcortex of radiating and dichotomously to polytomously branched filaments. Cortex composed of straight or slightly curved assimilatory filaments to 400 µm in length, hyaline hairs and reproductive organs. Unilocular sporangia pyriform, at base of assimilatory filament. Plurilocular sporangia on assimilatory filaments, terminal and several subterminal cells each transfored into a uni to biseriate sporangium of up to 10 loculi. Life history unknown. Needs confirmation.
