Description: Colony tough, rounded in the agar, red-brown. Filaments short 1-1.7 µm in width. Sheath absent or thin, colourless, tightly adhering to trichomes, visible only when empty. Trichomes short, untapered, unconstricted at the crosswalls, sometimes coiling, 0-8-1.2 µm wide. Cells longer than wide, with parietal thylakoids, with claret-coloured, non-granular cytoplasm, 2-8-4.8 µm long.
