Original publication and holotype designation: Wollaston, E.M. (1968). Morphology and taxonomy of southern Australian genera of Crouanieae Schmitz (Ceramiaceae, Rhodophyta). Australian Journal of Botany 16: 217-417, 42 figs, 10 pls, 1 table.
Request PDFDescription: Thallus erect, rhizoids penetrating host tissue. Axial cells each with 4 determinate branchlets branched by successive whorls of cells, gland cells on outer branchlet cells. Procarps on 2nd or 3rd cell below branch apex, carpogonial branches 4-celled each on one (supporting cell) of a whorl of 2-3 pericentral cells, one carposporophyte, with rounded groups of carposporangia, developing from each whorl. Spermatangia not recorded. Tetrasporangia sessile on outer cells of determinate branchlets, tetrahedrally divided.

Comments: Known only from southern Australia, epiphytic on Sargassum spp. and Encyothalia cliftoni Harvey.
