Description: Solitary phagotrophic flagellates with single discrete eukinetoplast. Recurrent flagellum free from the body and used in saltatory movements when not free-swimming. Lateral cytostome– cytopharynx lacks supporting prismatic rod. Type species: Bodo saltans Ehrenberg.
