Type locality: USSR: Franz Josef Land (Silva 1996-to date). Lectotype: W 2247c (slide referred to on Grunow's Bilder-Sammlung No. 8862 as having beeen used for Grunow 1184, pl. 4, fig. 33) (Hasle & Lange 1989: 127).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), inhabiting lakes (Stearn 1973).
