Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Aglaozonia is Aglaozonia parvula (Greville) Zanardini.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lobophora pacifica (Setchell) C.W.Vieira, De Clerck & Payri.
Type Information
Type locality: French Polynesia: Barrier reef off Papeete, Tahiti ; (Setchell 1926: 90) Holotype: W.A. Setchell; 26.v.1922; On Porolithon, over corals; UC; 261174 (Vieira & al. 2016: 700) Notes: "Since only a very small fragment of the holotype remains in UC, no morphological or molecular analyses were performed on the type material of Lobophora pacifica. The type material associated with this name is demonstrably ambiguous and cannot be critically identified. Consequently, an epitype collected at the type locality was selected. Epitype (designated by Vieira et al. 2016: 700): French Polynesia, Fa’aa: Vicinity of Papeete, Moorea, Feb 2014, M. Zubia UPF026 (PC barcode PC0063045). CORRECTIONS (epitype, 2016): the correct voucher and herbarium nos. are UPF 4268 (PF026) and the epitype was collected in Tahiti, not in Moorea (Vieira et al., 2022).
