Type locality: Paranapoan beach, São Vicente, São Paulo State, Brazil; (Joly 1957: 140, 142) Holotype: Joly; 18 July 1955; dense tufts, on rock, with Pterosiphonia pennata ?; SPF?; Joly 216-1955 (Joly 1957: 140, 141, 142) Notes: Joly (1957: 140, 141) notes that the type material (polysporangial) is located in the Herbário ficológico do Departamento de Botânica da Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras da Universidade de São Paulo.
