The type species (lectotype) of the genus Rhodoglossum is Rhodoglossum lanceolatum (Harvey) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Rhodoglossum japonicum f. divergens (Nagai) Mikami.

Type locality: Kurile Islands; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Mikami (1965: 272) cites Erimo, Hidaka Prov.
