Type locality: White Shoal, I. Dry Tortugas, Florida (Taylor 1960: 630). Not specified: W. R. Taylor; 17 July 1924; MICH Taylor 361 (Taylor 1960: 630). Notes: Taylor (1960: 630) notes that the type material was collected at a depth of ca. 21 metres and that there is an isotype located at "herbario Horti Botanici Neo-Eboracensis".
