Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Gelidium is Gelidium corneum (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gelidium crinale subsp. longipes (J. Agardh) W.A.Nelson & G.H.Boo.
