This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithothamnion fuegianum (Foslie) Foslie
Type locality: Port Louis, Berkeley Sound, Falkland Islands (Woelkerling 1998: 349-350). Lectotype: C. Skottsberg; 28.vii.1902; collection depth: 2 m. TRH B17-2545, includes slide 846; designated by Adey in Adey & Lebednik, 1967: 68 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 341). Notes: Lectotype fragments: PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym).
