The type species (lectotype) of the genus Euastrum is Euastrum ansatum Ehrenberg ex Ralfs.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Euastrum attenuatum var. splendens (Fritsch & M.F.Rich) Grönblad & A.M.Scott.
