This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Antithamnionella breviramosa (E.Y.Dawson) Wollaston.

Type locality: Pebbly Beach, near Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, California, U.S.A.; (Silva & al. 1996: 380) Type: 24 March 1948; Epiphytic on Sargassum palmeri in drift; AH; 26521 (Dawson 4920) (Dawson 1962: 14) Notes: Dawson (1962: 14) notes that the type was collected at Pebbly Beach, near Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, California.
