This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Colacodictyon reticulatum (Batters) Feldmann.

Type locality: Moville Bay, Co. Donegal, Ireland; (Brodie & Irvine 2003: 44) Lectotype: W. Sawers; Oct. 1853; In frond of Desmarestia dresnayi Lamouroux ex Léman; BM; Slide 7878 (Brodie & Irvine 2003: 44) Notes: Brodie & Irvine (2003: 44) note that Batters gave 1852 as date of collection but herbarium sheet has 1853.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), reticulate, netted, marked with a network (Stearn 1973).
