This is a marine species.
Type locality: Stavanger, Norway (Serio et al. 2008: 124). Epitype: O (Serio et al. 2008: 124). Notes: Lectotype: "Fucus ramosissimus" Oeder, Flora Danica: plate 276 (1776). Epitype: "Fucus ramosissimus" collected by M. N. Blytt, 1833 at Stavanger (Norway), designated by Nam et al. (2000: 767 and fig. 30); epitype deposited in O (the Botanical Museum of Oslo).
