This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lomentaria australis (Kützing) Levring.

Type locality: "Investigator Street, leg. Miss N. Davey No. 148 (in Cymadoce antarctica epiphytica)." [Sturt Bay, South Australia]; (Womersley 1996: 138) Type: A.E. Davey; (Womersley 1996: 138) Notes: An isotype specimen in AD (A1533) is epiphytic on Posidonia australis and appears to be a small plant of Lomentaria australis (Womersley 1996: 138).
