The type species (lectotype) of the genus Pseudo-nitzschia is Pseudo-nitzschia seriata (Cleve) H.Peragallo.

Iconotype: Fig. 30. Isotype: Acid-cleaned material of culture of strainICMB-129 is deposited as TEM grid cat number C-AT-2418 at the Botanical Museum, University of Copenhagen.
