Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Aulosira is Aulosira laxa O.Kirchner ex Bornet & Flahault.

Type Information
Type locality: Near the village of Dlouhá Ves (49º06'N, 14º09'E), South Bohemia, Czech Republic; (Lukesová et al. 2009: 118) Holotype: April 1999; collected from a depth of 0-2 cm from a wet meadow soil; Herbarium of Nonvascular Cryptogams, Monte L. Bean Museum, Provo, Utah; BRY 37704 (unialgal population preserved in 4% formaldehyde) (Lukesová et al. 2009: 121, 118) Notes: Isotypes (BRY) : unialgal population preserved in 4% formaldehyde and dried population on filter paper. Reference strain: Aulosira bohemensis ISB-2, (UTEX 2947).
