This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pterothamnion pectinatum (Kylin) Athanasiadis & Kraft.

Lectotype locality: Friday Harbor, Washington, U.S.A.; (Athanasiadis 1996: 61) Lectotype: H. Kylin; July 1922; dredged at 5-10 fathoms; GB; sine numero (Athanasiadis 1996: 61) Notes: Athanasiadis (1996: 61) has selected Friday Harbor as the type locality from amongst the syntype localities.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), pectinate, with narrow close-set divisions like a comb (Stearn 1973).
